Approximately, 16,000,000 people, reside within two and one-half hours driving time of Madison County: the metropolitan areas of Dallas-Fort Worthis 140 miles north; Austin is 140 miles west, Bryan-College Station is 36 miles southwest; and Houston is 90 miles south. County boundaries are formed by the Navasota River on the west and the Trinity River on the east. It is 110 north of the Ship Channel. Madison County is expected to experience substantial economic growth during the next ten years.
